Education

Learning takes place in the home and in the classroom, not in the offices of bureaucrats. That’s why I support returning federal education dollars to the state and local level.

Because each child is unique, I believe no one-size-fits-all curriculum can serve every child. Parents and educators at the local level know best what to teach, how to teach it, and how to best prepare the next generation of Americans.

Learning takes place in the home and in the classroom, not in the offices of bureaucrats.  That’s why we should support and value parents and educators by empowering them with the tools and resources they need to do their jobs.  Unfortunately, the Common Core Curriculum is one more example of how federal bureaucratic control will result in another unnecessary layer of politically correct and ineffective programs saddled upon our state’s education system.

Instead of just talking about how much money is spent we also need to talk about how that money is being spent. I support defunding the federal Department of Education and giving this money directly back to the states, local schools, and citizens to encourage the school of one’s choice.

Sadly, we’ve been presented with a false choice between public and private education systems. I support the education of all students through local public schools, private schools, charter schools and home schools.
